JMR Luna has announced he is stepping down as CEO of European organisation OG Esports, ending a nearly three-year run at the company.
In a Twitter statement, the Spaniard thanked founders Johan ‘N0tail’ Sundstein and Sébastien ‘Ceb’ Debs for “entrusting [him] with something so precious”. In the announcement, Luna did not hint where he would next take his talents.
Luna initially joined the organisation in 2020 following tenures as Evil Geniuses‘ Head of Content and Immortals‘ VP of Content Production. His role at OG Esports also involved an unusual focus on content. Luna hosted the organisation’s podcast, and at times become a mouthpiece for the DOTA 2 players in content production.
His tenure at OG Esports saw the organisation’s CS:GO team reach the top three at BLAST Premier a year after its founding and the acquisition of a VALORANT team, featuring a partnership with London United.
Luna also saw historic changes in OG’s two-time DOTA 2 International winning team. The entire roster split after six years together, building an entirely new team to replace OG’s old roster of veterans.
Commercially, the team was able to forge partnerships with a variety of companies from Southeast Asian service app Grab to a deal with bookmaker 1xBet. Luna commented at the beginning of his time with the organisation that he would like to oversee substantial fundraising and an expansion to Asia.
Writing over the weekend, Luna commented “Thank you to all the players and competitive staff for your commitment to friendship, love for competition, and for allowing me to share this journey with you. You are all amazing and we built great memories together.
“Of course, the biggest thank you to all the fans. We couldn’t do anything without your constant love and support!”
