Activision’s Call of Duty League (CDL) Stage 4 Major has recorded peak viewing figures of 277,136, according to Esports Charts.

This is a 17.3% peak viewership decline from this season’s Stage 3 Major, which became the most-watched event in the history of the CDL.

The figure was recorded during the grand finals between North American franchises OpTic Texas and the Los Angeles Thieves. Four of the five most-viewed matches featured OpTic Texas in some capacity, amassing 1.7m hours of watch time.

Hosted at a Belong Gaming Arenas facility in Columbus, Ohio, the Stage 3 Major was held without spectators from April 20th-24th after the New York Subliners franchise pulled out of hosting, citing ‘a variety of circumstances.’

Major 4 is the fifth-most-watched Call of Duty League event with 4.4m hours watched over its 29-hour airtime. The figures include a variety of co-streams and watch parties featuring the likes of former professional player Seth ‘Scump’ Abner and Call of Duty esports podcast The Flank.

The Call of Duty League is now in its third season as a geo-located franchised format and continues to build on its recent success. In recent weeks, the CDL announced its season-ending Championship Weekend event is heading to Las Vegas in addition to securing a partnership with energy drink brand Monster Energy.

Despite the slight decline in viewership from Major 3 to Major 4, the return to Twitch is cited as the main factor behind the solid figures for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 season.

Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
