FIFA’s esports division, FIFAe, has announced an exclusive, women’s-only bootcamp as part of its FAMEHERGAME programme initiated earlier this year.

The bootcamp will take place from June 14th to June 16th in Zurich, Switzerland, and participants will partake in an esports development programme that includes opportunities to gain all-expenses paid trips to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Players will be selected for participation through nominations from Member Associations around the world, including countries such as Spain, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, and the United States. All Member Associations will conduct their own local bootcamps first.

Throughout the bootcamp, participants will receive insights from experts on various subjects. Already, more than 20 Member Associations and the ECL, a prominent European women’s league, are actively involved, facilitating the involvement of players from different parts of the globe in this initiative.

The FAMEHERGAME bootcamp aims to provide participants with a comprehensive programme tailored to enhance their abilities and assist them in advancing both their professional and personal development in becoming better competitive esports athletes. The bootcamp has been specifically designed to address the challenges women encounter in esports, drawing upon community research conducted last year.

The curriculum will consist of a variety of sessions led by experts, encompassing content creation, mental and physical well-being, competitive coaching and media training.

Finally, participating athletes will use everything they have learned throughout the bootcamp and compete in a two-day tournament, with the final day being broadcast live on FIFAe’s channels. The top two competitors will win an all-expense paid trip to the prestigious tournament.

“With this state-of-the-art bootcamp, FIFAe supports us in our mission to empower women in the football community,” said Sarai Bareman, Chief Women’s Football Officer at FIFA.

“This programme provides a unique opportunity for women in the community to develop their skills, build their networks, and grow their confidence both on and off the digital pitch. The event will undoubtedly unlock the full potential of many talented women within FIFAe and we are looking forward to welcoming two of them in Australia later this year.”
