Esports and media holding company Enthusiast Gaming has partnered with streaming platform Netflix and creative studio Metavision to create an in-game One Piece Fortnite Creative experience.

The aim of the collaborative activation is to promote the release of the new live-action adaption of One Piece on Netflix.

The custom mode was created using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, a toolset allowing users to create experiences outside of Fortnite’s battle royale offering. Fortnite Creative is a sandbox game, developed and published by Epic Games, that lets users to design Fortnite games and experiences.

Esports companies and organisations are no strangers to utilising Unreal Editor for Fortnite. In July 2023, North American organisation 100 Thieves launched Bank Heist, its first game project.

To mark the launch of the One Piece mode in Fortnite, Enthusiast Gaming will feature the game mode on its NFL Tuesday Night Gaming series which first launched in August 2022. The series sees content creators and NFL players collaborate and play a range of video games. This activation will occur on September 12th.

The deal marks the first time Netflix has partnered with the likes of Enthusiast Gaming to create a ‘bespoke gaming experience’. Specifically, the game mode is a 3v3, player vs. player, team deathmatch with competitors becoming either ‘Straw Hats’ or ‘Marines’.

According to a release, the game-mode was brought to life by Fortnite Creative build team 3D Lab.

Amanda Rubin, EVP of Brand Solutions at Enthusiast Gaming, spoke on the deal: “This collaboration with Netflix is an exciting example of how Enthusiast Gaming is creating unique and immersive experiences for brands that are scalable across digital entertainment and gaming platforms.

“NFL Tuesday Night Gaming continues to offer a distinct opportunity to engage diverse communities through shared passions of gaming, sports, and entertainment.”

Aside from expanding its partnership portfolio, Enthusiast Gaming recently denied a report claiming the company was potentially seeking to acquire North American esports organisation FaZe Clan.
