Multinational esports organisation Team Liquid has been announced as the latest partner of collegiate esports awards ceremony The Scholars, taking place this November in Las Vegas.
Team Liquid will present the ‘Good in Gaming’ award, which is focused on diversity and inclusivity in esports and gaming.
The Scholars are an collegiate esports awards ceremony created by the Esports Awards, the premier awards show in esports. The inaugural event will take place just before the Esports Awards at the same venue on November 27th and 28th, with the ceremony celebrating collegiate esports stakeholders.
The Good in Gaming award that Team Liquid will present will award an individual or an organisation that demonstrated efforts in promoting diversity and inclusivity within the collegiate gaming system. According to the Scholars, the winner will be someone who enhances the representation of underrepresented groups, works to elevate diverse stories and voices and plays a role in implementing progressive policies in the industry.
The nominees in the category include the Co-Founder of Esports and Coffee Jacquie Lamm, non-profit organisation Cxmmunity, Director of Esports at Illinois Wesleyan University Cora Kennedy, Director of Esports & Gaming and Adjunct Professor of Esports at Texas Wesleyan University Eugene Frier, Director of the Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming and Esports Institute at Southern University Law Center Chris Turner, Therapist at Save Point Behavioral Health Dr. Sarah Hays and Dr. Kishonna Gray, Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky.
Team Liquid is not the first esports organisation to partner with the Scholars. Another global esports brand, Gen.G, will present the Global Impact of The Year Award, awarding those that help support the growth of the collegiate esports industry.
