Swedish esports organisation Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced a partnership with Web3 technology company XBorg for a new fan engagement app.

The app will utilise a digital collectible system. According to a release, the purpose of the app is to reward NIP fans who support the organisation and to serve as a fan hub.

XBorg is a Web3 company specialising in creating apps that use different Web3 systems for fan engagement and digital identity purposes. In the world of esports, the company made headlines in March 2023 when it secured a partnership with European esports organisation Team BDS. In addition, XBorg also operates a Web3 esports league called the Xtreme Championship Series.

The partnership with Ninjas in Pyjamas will be focused on a new fan engagement app which will become available later this year, with an early access phase commencing shortly. The app will, according to XBorg, allow fans to “connect with fellow supporters and experience new ways to support their favourite teams”. The company added that there will be a reward system for fans who compete in gaming events, support NIP on socials and complete challenges.

Little is known about the details of said challenges and rewards, but the two partners noted that the main aim of the app is to provide a digital fan hub and home for NIP fans. This is similar to what other well-known esports organisations created in the past, such as MAD Lions through their partnership with blockchain company Ziliqa.

Ninjas in Pyjamas Founder and Co-CEO Hicham Chahine commented: “We’re proud to announce our partnership with XBorg. As leaders in the Web3 industry, they are pushing the boundaries of technology to empower players and bring fans and organisations closer together we can’t wait to reveal the Ninjas in Pyjamas app to our fanbase.

“We’ve been hard at work to create new and immersive digital experiences for them that take the NIP fan experience to the next level.”
