Southeast Asian esports organisation RSG has announced that it will invest $500,000 (~£395,300) over the next few years to scout and develop new esports talent.

As part of this initiative, RSG will launch the RSG Cup Series, a series of localised SEA tournaments that focus on scouting up-and-coming talent.

According to the announcement, the RSG Cup Series will seemingly focus on the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang ecosystem. In the announcement, Daniel Chew, MPL Singapore’s Lead noted that the series is “a fantastic addition to the MLBB Esports ecosystem in Southeast Asia.”

The pilot phase of the RSG Cup Series will launch in Singapore, where the organisation currently holds an MPL Singapore roster. A release notes that the cup aims to present an opportunity and platform for player scouting by laying foundations for identifying and nurturing upcoming esports talents.

RSG has a notable presence in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), operating rosters in three SEA countries — the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. RSG’s Philippines roster won the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (now rebranded to the Mid-Season Cup) in 2022.

Details such as how many years the overall investment will cover and further activations have not been revealed.

The news of the RSG Cup coincided with the announcement that the teams’ MPL Singapore roster captain Weelun ‘Diablo’’ Yeo would be joining rival organisation Team Flash.

Jayf Soh, RSG, CEO and Founder, commented on the new series: “The RSG Cup Series is a testament to our commitment to scouting and developing the best gaming talent. Over the last few years, we have refined our player development process to field highly competitive quality teams across Southeast Asia.

“We are now eager to further scale up and welcome partners who share our vision of empowering players and to replicate this success with the next generation of gaming talent.”

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
