VCT Pacific, VALORANT Champions Tour’s Asia-Pacific partnered league, has announced a collaboration with South Korean-based Japanese girl group XG.
As a result, the two parties will join forces to launch a collaboration single called Undefeated.
The single will launch on April 12th across all music streaming platforms. Meanwhile, there will be a music video that will played on VCT Pacific’s YouTube channel when the song is released. The collaboration marks XG’s first foray into the esports industry.
According to Riot Games, the song will convey a message ‘to fearlessly seize victory at all times and rise to the occasion despite all odds.’
In recent years, the music industry has joined forces with the esports industry to take part in various collaborations. In August 2023, North American organisation Team Liquid released an anthem ahead of VCT Champions 2023. In November 2023, Riot Games extended and expanded its partnership with music recording company BMG. Last year, the developer also unveiled a virtual music group known as HEARTSTEEL. The group features Baekhyun, the lead singer of K-pop group EXO.
Previous music collaborations with Riot Games include Lil NasX, Imagine Dragons and New Jeans.
The release of the song between VCT Pacific and XG comes following the start of the competition’s regular season stage. Eleven teams from the Asia-Pacific region compete in round-robin matches to determine the playoff bracket which begins in May. The top three playoff teams will secure qualification for VCT Masters Shanghai, the second Masters event of the 2024 season.
Last month, VALORANT’s first Masters event of the season, VCT Masters Madrid, became the game’s most-watched esports event of all time, recording 1.66m peak viewers.
