League of Legends’ EMEA Masters Spring 2024 has recorded an increase in viewership from the same edition last year.
The event peaked at 152,999 viewers, an increase of around 40,000 compared to EMEA Masters Spring 2023. This makes it the sixth most watched EMEA Masters event in terms of peak viewership, according to Esports Charts.
Moreover, the event recorded an increased average viewership compared to Spring 2023, averaging 61,058 viewers compared to last year’s 42,359. This is also not far below EMEA Masters Summer 2023’s average viewership (65,529).
EMEA Masters (previous EU Masters) was slowly building its viewership from 2019 to 2021, with the competition hitting an all-time peak viewership of 377,531 (Spring 2021). Since then it has not been able to replicate that peak with the closest event being EMEA Masters Summer 2023 (295,000).
This year’s event saw German organisation Eintracht Spandau defeat Turkish organisation Beşiktaş Esports to be crowned EMEA Masters champions. The Grand Final was the highest-viewed match of the tournament.
Team BDS Academy and Geekay Esports filled out the other two spots in the top four, with Geekay featuring in the second most-watched match against Karmine Corp Blue (143,714). Geekay Esports were also the most viewed team across the entire event, followed in second by tournament winners Eintracht Spandau.
Interestingly, despite a German organisation winning the event, German language platforms recorded the second highest peak viewership (93,475), behind French with 113,646. Turkish (23,733) and Spanish (11,908) were the further down the list with EMEA Master’s English-speaking platforms only peaking at 14,411,
This year’s event might have beaten out last year’s spring event, but the EMEA Masters has yet to reach the peak it had in 2021. Only time will tell if the EMEA Masters Summer 2024 Finals being held during the LEC roadshow will have a big impact on viewing figures.
