Esports tournament organiser ESL FACEIT Group has announced a partnership with car manufacturer Porsche for the upcoming Overwatch Championship Series Major at Dreamhack Dallas.

The collaboration will see the German manufacturer showcase its electric Macan model and present the MVP award during the Major final.

The tournament will be Overwatch’s very first major after ESL FACEIT’s take over of the game’s circuit following last year’s closure of the Activision Blizzard-organised Overwatch League. The Major will run from May 31st to June 2nd and will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Texas, USA during Dreamhack Dallas.

As per the press release, the collaboration will be Porsche’s first major partnership with an esports tournament organiser. As well as presenting the MVP and showcasing its Macan model, the company will also offer fans at the event a chance to get `exclusive access to custom content linked to Porsche’s new all-electric Macan model.’

The partnership with the ESL FACEIT Group comes shortly after Porsche teamed up directly with game developer Blizzard on new in-game items, including two character skins created in collaboration with the car manufacturer.

On the announcement, Jasmin Haasbach, VP of Global Brand Partnerships at ESL FACEIT Group said: “Porsche’s history of innovation and ground-breaking design are uniquely aligned with the Overwatch community’s passionate and tech-savvy fans. We’re excited to bring these two celebrated brands together at DreamHack Dallas.”

Ahead of Dreamhack Dallas, Blizzard announced a crowdfunding bundle of in-game items of which a portion of the revenue would contribute to the event’s prize pool. As well as the launching of the Overwatch Championship Series, the Overwatch 2 circuit is seeing a resurgence with the additions of the multi-tiered FACEIT League as well as the game’s presence at the upcoming Saudi Arabian government-backed Esports World Cup.
