Mobile video game developer and publisher Garena has partnered with global electronics manufacturer Samsung Electronics for Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Southeast Asia.

As a result, Samsung will become the official device partner for the next two seasons of FFWS Southeast Asia, one of Free Fire’s major esports leagues.

As part of the deal, players competing in the Fall 2024 and the Spring 2025 seasons of the FFWS Southeast Asia competition will use Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra handsets.

The FFWS Southeast Asia Fall 2024 event will see 18 teams from across the region compete for a share of its $300,000 (~£233,628) prize pool. Overall the event will feature six weeks of online knockout matches ahead of its grand finals, set to take place in Surabaya, Indonesia from October 11th-13th.

Garena continues to support the growth of the Free Fire esports ecosystem with regular changes to its annual circuit. In February, it was revealed that the 2024 FFWS Global Finals will take place in Brazil, five years after the first event took place in Rio de Janeiro.

Samsung joining forces with Garena and FFWS cements itself as one of the biggest brands supporting mobile esports. In 2022, it became a presenting sponsor of the Snapdragon Pro Series. Meanwhile. May 2024 saw it join forces with North American organisation NRG to launch its PUBG Mobile division.

Jung Suh, Head of Digital Commerce of Mobile Experience Business at Samsung, spoke on the deal: “We are excited to announce our collaboration with Garena for the next two seasons of the Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia.

“We trust that this partnership will offer an epic gaming experience and fulfil the Galaxy brand’s pledge of ‘Life opens up with Galaxy’.”

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
