Allied Gaming & Entertainment, the operators of the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas, will host the first-ever in-person finals of the World Mahjong Tour in the esports-focused venue.

The competition will see players compete in the popular game — first created in the 19th century — for $100,000 (~£78,500) in prize money. There will be also various levels in which to compete.

The World Mahjong Tour is an interesting new competition created by Allied Gaming and Entertainment, a company known for its esports ventures. The company operates the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas, a popular venue for esports and gaming events that has hosted hundreds of events since opening in 2018. The arena has seating for over 1,000 viewers and more than 150 PC and console stations for events of all sizes.

The World Mahjong Tour will take place during the Lunar New Year celebrations in Las Vegas in 2025, with the grand finals taking place on February 2nd, 2025. While not an esports game in itself, the World Mahjong Tour website does announce a future release of a competitive mobile game that will be launched soon, allowing it to be a similar hybrid of sports and esports like chess.

Yinghua Chen, CEO of Allied Gaming & Entertainment/Allied Esports, commented: “This iconic venue, known for hosting premier esports and gaming events, alongside globally recognised shows such as World Poker Tour and many others, provides the perfect stage to showcase Mahjong’s rich cultural heritage and strategic depth to a global audience.

“We are proud to elevate this game into an exciting and competitive format, uniting players and fans worldwide.”

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
