Jarno Opmeer has won the 2025 edition of the F1 Sim Racing World Championship.
The Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing driver secured the title after achieving a 7th-place finish in the 12th and final round of the championship taking place at the EFG Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.
Opmeer is widely regarded as one of the best F1 Sim Racing drivers in the history of the motorsport series’ official esports championship. Opmeer previously won the championship in 2020 and 2021 while representing Alfa Romeo Esports and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports.
As three-time F1 Sim Racing World Champion, Opmeer becomes the most-winning driver of the competition, overtaking two-time champion Brendon Leigh who won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.
Opmeer’s victory marks two consecutive years an Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing driver has won the driver’s title. In 2023-24, Danish driver Frederik Rasmussen achieved victory on the F1 23 title.
The driver started the race in 14th place before working his way through the field to finish in a high enough position to secure the title.
In addition to Opmeer winning the driver’s championship, Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing has won the 2025 Teams Championship, winning $130,000 (~£100,673) in prize money. The win is the third time the Milton Keynes-based team has won the team’s championship in its eight-year history.
Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing is no stranger to success on the virtual racetrack. Outside of the F1 titles, it has won the Porsche Esports Supercup in 2020 and 2024 on iRacing with Sebastian Job winning on both occasions.
F1 Sim Racing is operated by ESL FACEIT Group, which has also hosted sim racing events on the RENNSPORT platform. For its 2025 season, the tournament organiser has seemingly split from the platform, with the ESL R1 tournament rebranding to RENNSPORT R1 for the 2025 season.
