EA and Premier League announce ePremier League

ePremier League

EA and Premier League have finally announced the long-rumoured ePremier League, a FIFA 19 tournament that sees all 20 current Premier League teams take part.

Operated by esports tournament organiser Gfinity, the ePL will kick off in January with online qualifiers, leading into a playoff period from January to March.

LVP announces League of Legends national tournaments in Latin America

Liga Profesional de Videojuegos (LVP) has announced four national leagues across Latin America for League of Legends, starting in 2019.

In partnership with Riot Games, four national leagues will be opened in Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico. These leagues will be divided into two seasons with eight teams taking part for an unspecified prize pool.

Tencent announces restructuring in the wake of challenges

Chinese conglomerate Tencent Holdings has announced plans for an internal restructure, following on from a challenging year that saw changes in Chinese government regulations.

Tencent’s market value peaked at $578 billion (£440 billion) in January, and recently is had reported its first quarterly profit fall in almost 13 years – losing $160 billion (£124 billion) in market value.

Virtual Athletics League launches global esports league

The Virtual Athletics League, in partnership with Springboard BR and LIV, has launched a global virtual reality esports league.

Sponsored by HP and HTC esports, the league will take place across different VR arcades around the world throughout 2018. Seven different titles will be in rotation during the competition.
