North America has overtaken Europe in Riot Games’ most recent League of Legends power rankings.
The change is a result of disappointing LEC performances at the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), with LTA North now becoming the best-performing western region in League of Legends.
The rise of North America’s LTA North in 2025 began at the end of this year’s first split, with the region earning a Regional Strength Score of 1403, 63 points behind the LEC. The gap between the two regions extended following the end of Split 2, before LTA North overtook the LEC on July 6th, 2025.
League of Legends power rankings feature a Contextualised Match Weighting model which values international events, knockout and group stage matches higher than regional competitions.
The change in ranking follows a disappointing MSI campaign for the LEC, which became the first region to be eliminated from the tournament. G2 Esports was bested by FlyQuest, while Movistar KOI lost to CTBC Flying Oyster.
With all European teams eliminated from MSI, LTA North has an opportunity to cement its position as the third-best region in League of Legends. FlyQuest continues its MSI campaign on July 9th with a match against Bilibili Gaming in the second round of the lower bracket.
North America’s League of Legends Resurgence
North America’s performances on the League of Legends international stage as of late have sparked debate among the community. Content creator Ludwig Ahgren has questioned why the region receives one direct invitation to MSI, while Europe gets two.
“When are we going to question EU getting two representatives at MSI when NA is by far a better region?” Questioned Ludwig.
With LTA North moving into third place in the power rankings, it will be interesting to see if Riot Games awards the region with more spots for next year’s MSI or the upcoming World Championship.
