Epic Games lands $1.25 billion investment in funding round

Epic Games Fortnite

As if Epic Games wasn’t raking in enough money from Fortnite, the developer has received $1.25 billion (£976 million) in a funding round.

Investors from the round include KKR, Smash Ventures, aXiomatic (Team Liquid’s parent company), Vulcan Capital, Kleiner Perkins, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Boston Uprising finds headphone sponsor in Bose

Boston Uprising

Boston Uprising, one of the original Overwatch League franchises, has announced a headphone sponsorship from audio giant Bose.

The headphone brand has partnered with other franchises owned by the Kraft Group over the past few years; the news was announced at the Octagon Sports Marketing Symposium.

Werder Bremen announces esports partnership with EWE AG

Werder Bremen EWE AG

Werder Bremen only entered in esports industry in July when it recruited FIFA players, and now it has brought a long-time partner along for the ride.

EWE AGE, a European energy and telecommunications company, has been a partner of the football club for quite some time and is one of the latest non-endemic companies to get involved.

Dignitas drops the ‘Team’ to start afresh

Dignitas

London-based esports organisation Team Dignitas has revealed its new identity – it will now go as Dignitas.

Along with the new name is a new logo which sources inspiration from Roman History, much like ‘Dignitas’ itself. It encompasses the Owl of Ancient Rome and the organisation’s “own rich history and character”.
