PayPal partners with Rainbow Six Esports as payment platform

Paypal and Ubisoft have announced that the payment provider will partner with the Rainbow Six Pro League and Majors as their official payment platform.

The partnership will run from November 2018 until November 2019. The partnership will be first used at the Pro League Season 8 Finals in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil this weekend. 

2019 is set to be a busy year for Siege, with two more Pro League finals as well as the Six Invitational 2019 and the return of the Six Major, due to take place in Summer of 2019. 

Geoffroy Sardin, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Ubisoft EMEA, had this to say: “We are honoured to welcome PayPal as a key partner for our Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Pro League and Majors. This is a clear signal that the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six esports scene is constantly moving forward, attracting new partners who share our enthusiasm for esports. It will be great to see our partnership flourish in our upcoming events, including Rio de Janeiro, Montreal and events throughout 2019.” 

PayPal joins Lenovo Legion and HyperX as key sponsors for Siege esports. Only this week Ubisoft confirmed HyperX had renewed their partnership with Siege.

As the top cited preferred way to pay for gaming content, in-game items and content creator subscriptions, we’re excited to collaborate with the Ubisoft team to provide the gaming community with great experiences, including exclusive community events and deals on the Ubisoft Store in the upcoming year.

PayPal recently released their research results on their 2018 study titled “Gaming Insights: The Gender Divide, eSports and More“. The research mostly looked at the spending habits of gamers and esports.

Esports Insider says: Rainbow Six Siege has become one of esports sleeper hits. The game has slowly built up a dedicated following and is now looking to make big moves in esports as the game continues to break into the upper echelons of esports. PayPal is a big partnership, as a company that has yet to get too involved in esports when compared to competitors such as Paysafecard. This could very well just be the start of a wider esports program from PayPal.
