Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves just revealed a trailer for the upcoming DLC fighter Joe Higashi.

SNK developers revealed all of City of the Wolve’s Season 1 fighters back in February, but this was the first look at Joe Higashi’s fighting style – and his glasses, which have really thrown the FGC off.

Dropped on September 22nd, the official gameplay trailer showed off Joe Higashi’s straightforward and fierce Muay Thai fighting style and confident attitude. Many of his moves are familiar to those who have played previous Fatal Fury titles, including his Tiger Kick and Screw Upper super move, but he has a refreshed style to fit into the current game.

Joe Higashi will be available to play at the Samsung SSD booth at the Tokyo Game Show later in September, which will give us even better insight into Joe Higashi’s playstyle and feel.

However, the FGC seems more focused on Joe Higashi’s looks rather than his attacks. All over FGC forums and YouTube, players are commenting on Joe Higashi’s glasses in particular. Read one YouTube comment: “How to age up your character in Papan: Put on some glasses.”

Another added: “Someone get this guy some contact lenses or LASIK.”

The overall consensus was that the glasses didn’t fit Joe Higashi’s design or fighting style. Many expressed that the glasses felt out of place and even dangerous to wear while fighting. One fighting game player even expressed that Joe should have taken the glasses off in his intro before starting the fight.

When is Joe Higashi Coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves?

The trailer didn’t give an official release date for Joe Higashi, but the FGC has a general idea.

SNK developers have stated in the past that the goal is to add a new fighter every two months. With Ken’s released at the start of August, this would put Joe Higashi’s release around mid-October at the latest. Joe will be followed by Street Fighter’s Chun-Li and Art of Fighting’s Mr. Big.

There’s a chance the FGC will get a confirmed date for Joe at the Tokyo Game Show.
