Virtus.pro has announced that it will be backing non-profit organisation World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and its conservation efforts for polar bears.

The Overwatch 2 team has launched a fundraising campaign to gather £5,000 (~$6,660) in donations, spreading awareness through a promotional video online.

The campaign is available on the Tiltify website, where fans have the option to donate, fundraise or amplify the campaign. As of writing, Virtus.pro has raised over £630 in donations.

“The polar bear has been the symbol of Virtus.pro for over 22 years,” Virtus.pro wrote on the webpage. “And it represents strength and resilience for our club and community.

“Today, polar bears face dangerous conditions in the wild, and we feel it’s our responsibility to help protect them. Our campaign is about connecting our global esports audience with this cause and supporting WWF’s vital conservation work.”

It is not the first time WWF has worked with an esports team to raise money for wildlife conservation. Collaborations date as far back as 2021, when it worked with Ninjas in Pyjamas for the Earth Hour campaign, holding a live stream event spreading awareness on environmental sustainability.

Virtus.pro shared details on the fundraiser shortly after its run in the Overwatch Champions Series concluded for the 2025 season. It placed sixth in EMEA Stage 3, missing out on the World Finals in DreamHack Stockholm.

Esports and Charity Efforts in 2025

Esports is a scene that attracts millions of viewers every year across various titles, and has become a strong platform for charities to share about their work.

In the League of Legends scene, FlyQuest announced a charity campaign with T1 during Worlds 2025. The organisation pledged to make donations to two chosen charities based on its own performance and that of T1 in the tournament.

Earlier this year, Riot Games launched in-game fundraisers for both VALORANT and League of Legends to support those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. It began on January 22nd, with all proceeds going to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund
