Psyonix has revealed the 11 Rocket League Championship Series teams that will be included in its revenue-sharing pilot program.

The official announcement of the esports shop – which includes branded in-game items – was made just last week.

Starting on April 16th, 11 organisations that field teams in the title will have two branded decals, a player banner, and numerous wheels available for purchase. 30% of the revenue received from purchases of these items will go directly to the appropriate organisations.

The teams involved in the pilot program are Cloud9, Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, G2 Esports, Ghost Gaming, mousesports, NRG Esports, Rogue, SplyceTeam SoloMid, and Team Vitality.

It’s worth noting that the teams involved, as things stand, compete in either the European or North American division of the RLCS. The two other regions in the competition – Oceania and South America – don’t have any presence in the program.

These branded items can be purchased with new in-game currency called ‘Esports Tokens’, which range in cost anywhere from $0.99 to $19.99 (£0.76 to £15.28). The shop will rotate six items in the shop on a daily basis.

The most recent news in Rocket League esports – besides the esports shop finally coming to light – is the entrance of FC Barcelona. The Spanish football club announced the signing of ‘Savage!’ roster and won 3-1 in its debut against Dignitas.

Esports Insider says: It’s taken long enough for Psyonix to increase the level of support it provides the organisations that compete in Rocket League. Launching a shop such as this is a proven method of generating substantial revenue if the items are worthwhile and affordable so we expect to see the pilot program prove successful.
