Two big dogs in esports have announced that they’re not splitting up anytime soon with DreamHack and Twitch announcing an extension to their existing partnership.
This will be the ninth year the two companies have worked together, and whilst the likes of the ESL Pro League and FACEIT’s ECS have moved exclusively to Youtube, DreamHack, for the time-being at least, will still have its events streamed on Twitch. This deal will stretch to the end of 2017.
Marcus Lindmark, CEO of DreamHack commented: “It’s not everyday in this space you renew a partnership entering its 9th year. We are proud to continue to partner with Twitch, knowing they are as committed to the development of esports and gaming as DreamHack.”
DreamHack Austin is the next up on the calendar and takes place from April 28th to 30th. This will include action from CS:GO, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, Street Fighter V and Smash Bros.

As the esports industry continues to evolve, DreamHack has been at the forefront of the movement with our partnership enabling them to reach a global audience. Esports Insider says: Broadcasting and media rights are going to be one of the major themes of this year with exclusivity deals already being signed. Twitch securing an extension with DreamHack is a victory for those who favour the free to view Amazon-owned platform.
