Cellcard Partners With EFC to Host Rules of Survival tournament

Cambodian telecommunications and digital entertainment company Cellcard partnered with the Esports Federation of Cambodia to host a Rules of Survival tournament. The competition featured a sizable prize pool of £9,500 and was held on Cellcard’s PlayGame App.

The decision to chose this title in particular comes from Cellcard’s ties with the game;s developer, NetEase Games.

EVOS Esports announces partnership with VISA and Armageddon

Indonesian esports organisation EVOS Esports announced deals with VISA and Armageddon. The organisation is one of SEA’s top homegrown brands with presence across Indonesia and Thailand.

The organisation’s partnership with Armageddon, a gaming gear manufacturer based out of Singapore, extends to its teams in Malaysia and Singapore. Read further about the Armageddon deal here.

Riot Games partners with Mineski’s Youth Esports Program

Riot Games Southeast Asia announced a partnership with the Youth Esports Program (YEP), which is a joint venture between Mineski Philippines and the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.

The partnership will allow YEP to give students access to Riot Games employees through workshops, activities, and student initiatives. As part of this partnership, VALORANT will become an official tournament game in the Youth Esports Program’s upcoming national campus-based esports league.

AESF lobbies for inclusion of esports in SEA Games 2021

The Asian Electronics Sports Federation is lobbying for the inclusion of esport titles in the SEA Games 2021 event. While esports was part of the games in 2019, budget restrictions brought about by the ongoing pandemic has forced the host nation, Vietnam, to axe nearly 20 disciplines, including esports.

AESF director Sebastian Lau has written to the National Electronic Sports Federation of the Philippines (NESFP) and the Philippines Olympic Committee (POC) to appeal and advocate for the inclusion of esports in 2021. 

JJ Lin’s Team SMG announces partnership with Nescafe

Singaporean singer and celebrity JJ Lin’s esports organisation Team SMG announced a competitive roster for VALORANT which includes seven members, most of whom are former professional Counter-Strike players.

Team SMG is a relatively new team in the region, with rosters in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG, and PUBG Mobile. The organisation also unveiled a partnership with Nescafe, releasing a campaign video featuring its teams and the sponsor’s products.
