Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, has joined the ownership group of Envy Gaming.
The singer is now a co-owner of Team Envy, Call of Duty League franchise Dallas Empire, and Overwatch League franchise Dallas Fuel.

The “Sunflower” and “Congratulations” singer has taken an undisclosed equity stake in the company. There’s no word on whether he will take on the role of ambassador for the parent company’s three brands at the time of writing.
Post Malone spoke on the decision in a release: “I grew up in Texas and I’ve been gaming my whole life, so this just really felt right. I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit.”

Last month, Envy Gaming named Adam Rymer as its new CEO and partnered with Vindex following the company’s acquisition of Belong Gaming Arenas to bring esports venues to North Texas.
Mike Rufail, Chief Gaming Officer at Envy Gaming, commented: “I first met Post at Posty Fest in Arlington last November. We had a very real chat about his love for video games. He’s a genuine gamer who brings a lot of effort and personality into everything he does. I couldn’t be happier to have him invest and build with us.”
Esports Insider says: While it’s cool to have celebrities invest in your vision, we’ve seen a lack of follow-through in esports when it comes to getting athletes and musicians outwardly involved once the initial announcement has been made. Hopefully, that’s not the case here with Post Malone, who has a well-known interest in gaming spanning years.
