PSG Esports, the esports arm of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain, has launched an online training programme called Paris Saint-Germain Academy Esports.

For €20 (£18) per hour, esports hopefuls can receive one-on-one training in FIFA 21 or Brawl Stars and choose from one of 20 available coaches.

Students will not learn from members of the PSG roster, but rather certified coaches that must adhere to a strict Paris Saint-Germain ‘training methodology’. They are evaluated on specific criteria such as their technical skills, pedagogical abilities or their ability to share expertise, according to the organisation.

Each training session, which is expected to last between one and two hours, will be broken into five segments: briefing, demo or explanations based on exercise, supervised practice, role-playing, and a debriefing/evaluation.

At launch, training is available for FIFA 21 and Brawl Stars only. However, the academy looks to add League of Legends and Dota 2 services at a later date.

On its coaching methods, the PSG Academy Esports web page read: “Our training method is based on a permanent correction of what you do in the game so that you can find the solutions to the problems you encounter yourself.

“Our coaches help you to identify your weak points and to correct them through exchanges and role-playing.”

Sessions are available 24 hours per day. The site is available in both English and French, which implies that lessons are available in both languages.

Esports Insider says: PSG jumped into esports back in 2016 and already had an advantage as a top competitor in French football. Since then, the organisation has expanded into other games and global regions through alliances with the likes of Talon Esports and Rex Regum Qeon. The club’s experience puts it into a strong position to train future hopefuls in the games it competes in, and potentially recruit future stars.
