The duos tournament is said to be the first-ever cross-regional competition to take place online. In order to prevent any connectivity issues between regions, it will feature home and away legs to ensure a ‘fair competitive platform for players’.

Both brothers will also make guest appearances throughout the tournament. This includes interviews and a 2v2 matchup with Galaxy Racer’s Fortnite players, Milan ‘milan’ Lopes and Maciej ‘Teeq’ Radzio

Paul Roy, CEO of Galaxy Racer, spoke on the tournament in a release: “The Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup will unite professional, amateur players, gaming personalities and athletes, and will be the first event of its kind to bring players from the Middle East and Europe to clash in an online tournament that is highly competitive and fair.

“Our ambition is to offer up-and-coming professional players a chance to show off their skills, provide opportunities for players to test those skills against players from other regions, and to create an unforgettable event for fans to watch.”

The tournament marks Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s debut in the industry. It was revealed that the Arsenal striker was considering creating his own esports organisation in 2020 after competing in a virtual Grand Prix organised by Formula One.

Qualifiers for the Aubameyang Cup begin on August 1st. According to the release, 150 teams from the Middle East and Europe attempt to qualify for the Grand Finals, which is set to take place on August 3rd. The top 24 teams will compete in the Grand Finals.

All four days of the competition will be streamed on Galaxy Racer’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

Esports Insider says: Galaxy Racer is continuing to expand its offerings in Europe and the Middle East. By joining forces with one of the most recognisable names in world football, it’s a sure-fire way to attract attention to the organisation. Depending on the success of the tournament, it could be the start of a solid working relationship between the organisation and the Aubameyang brothers.

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
