Esports production company and tournament organiser DreamHack has cancelled DreamHack Anaheim 2022.

The event, originally scheduled for February 11th-13th 2022, will no longer take place due to ‘increased difficulties’ in hosting the event in a qualitative manner.

The event would’ve been the first DreamHack event to take place in North America in two years. The organiser was also collaborating with 343 Industries to host the HCS North American Regional Championship. The Halo tournament is now expected to take place as a standalone event on the same dates.

Krzysztof Pikiewicz, Senior Vice President of Festivals at ESL Gaming, spoke on the cancellation: “We were all really looking forward to our first in-person festival in the United States in two years, so canceling DreamHack Anaheim was not an easy decision.

“DreamHack creates a space for our community to connect, explore, win, play, and be themselves through an interactive, gaming lifestyle experience and we simply didn’t feel like Anaheim would be able to live up to that in February. We are now focusing on DreamHack Dallas and DreamHack Summer in June and can’t wait to welcome our community back at those festivals.”

The cancellation of DreamHack Anaheim is the second event the organiser has had to alter after announcing DreamHack Atlanta had been pushed back to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside Halo, an ESL Challenger CS:GO event was also scheduled to take place. Details on when the tournament will be rescheduled have yet to be revealed.
Esports Insider says: While it’s disappointing to see DreamHack cancel its Anaheim event, it’s important that the health and safety of staff and everyone in attendance is the top priority, especially when the pandemic is far from over.

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
