TL;DR

  • The Fortnite item shop refreshes every 24 hours, so there is always plenty of new and returning content.
  • Not every item in the shop is refreshed with the reset; some items stay longer than others.
  • At the time of writing, the big new crossover releasing in Fortnite is South Park, which is bound to feature various cosmetic items in the shop.
  • Some rumoured new items coming to the Fortnite shop include a Sidekick of Krypto the super dog and a skin for Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil Requiem.
  • Rumoured returning items include the Resident Evil bundles and skins such as Plantina, Harmony Lee, and Michael Myers.

The Fortnite item shop is where players will find all the latest cosmetic content in the game, from skins to emotes, dances, and more. At the time of writing, we are just over a week into 2026, so it’s no surprise that there is a range of new items coming to join the content that is already part of Fortnite’s current item shop (as of January 8, 2026).

We’re going to look at all the confirmed new items in the Fortnite shop, but we’re also going to dive into some rumours and leaks from prominent Fortnite leakers and dataminers.

Currently, the most significant new content arriving at the shop is cosmetics related to a crossover between Fortnite and South Park, titled “Born In Chaos.” A trailer released for the collaboration revealed that five new skins will be added to the shop for the four main South Park characters – Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny – as well as the popular character Butters. The skins show the kids in mech suits, similar to the skins that Morty from Rick and Morty and Bart and Lisa Simpson received during their Fortnite crossovers. Each of the mech skins has a unique design to reflect their characters.

As well as the mech skins, a Sidekick based on the talking towel South Park character Towelie was also teased in the trailer. As with most of the other Fortnite Sidekicks, Towelie will probably be coming to the item shop in Fortnite. However, there are rumours that a South Park mini-battle pass will be available, and if this is the case, Towelie could be an item locked into the pass. That being said, it seems more likely that he will be a shop item.

In the weekly shop preview posted on the official Fortnite social media accounts, the following items were officially confirmed.

  • Master Chief skin and Halo cosmetics: returned January 7
  • Wind-A-Saurus the robot dinosaur Sidekick: releasing January 9
  • R.E.P.O cosmetics bundle and skins: returning January 10
  • Brock and Amari skin and cosmetic bundle: releasing January 10
  • Cuddle Clompers kicks: releasing January 11
  • Spike the Doberman dog Sidekick: returning January 12.

Conclusion

That’s everything that we know about the current leaks, rumours, and speculation regarding items potentially coming to the Fortnite shop. Remember that there is no official confirmation for the items listed above that are marked as part of the rumoured new and returning items, so take it with a grain of salt until Epic Games has confirmed anything officially. That being said, it does seem likely that some of these items will be available in the shop.

The most believable rumours are those relating to the return of the popular Resident Evil cosmetic bundles and the new Resident Evil skin for the character Grace Ashcroft. Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026, so it would make sense for the existing skins from the franchise to come back. The Resident Evil content is rumoured to release in March 2026, which lines up well with the Requiem release date. It also works to release a Fortnite skin for Grace, as players switch between her and Leon Kennedy, who has a skin as part of the existing bundles, in the new Requiem game.
