League of Legends has been light on new champions in 2025, and players are chomping at the bit to get their hands on a fresh, playable character to shake up the meta. But that’s all about to change. Enter: Yunara, the Unbroken Faith, who will soon make her debut on Summoner’s Rift as League of Legends’ 171st champion.

Here’s everything you need to know about upcoming League of Legends champion Yunara, including her confirmed abilities, when she goes live, and what her impact will be on the broader meta and pro esports

What will Yunara’s abilities be?

Yunara will be an ADC (Attack Damage Carry) solely focused on dealing damage in the botlane alongside a Support champion. Her overall kit is unique in that it brings a mix of on-hit damage and magic damage for a hybrid feel.

League of Legends game designer Max Perlman has explained that Yunara is “all about the ebb and flow of power,” so correct positioning and timing of attacks will be crucial to maximising her kit.

Here’s a quick rundown of all of Yunara’s confirmed abilities in League of Legends.

What impact will Yunara have on the LoL meta?

Amid other ADCs like Vayne or Lucian or being played across multiple lanes, Yunara is “fully intended for the botlane and [Riot] do not wish to see her in any other roles.” Game devs will be keeping an eye on how she’s used and will rebalance her accordingly to ensure she stays cemented in botlane.

She’s built to be a strong backline carry, scaling up the longer teamfights drag on, thanks to her passive ability, Vow to the First Lands. She can then unleash her fully-stacked Cultivation of Spirit to melt enemy HP bars. Kanmei’s Steps have dual versatility to either disengage or close the distance to fleeing enemies, paired with Arc of Judgement for slowing CC. When she’s in her Transcended State, her enemies won’t have a prayer of survival.

For item builds, many ADC players on Reddit predict we’ll see items like Runnan’s Hurricane, Infinity Edge, Yun’Tal Wildarrows, and Guinsoo’s Rageblade for maximum damage output. Players anticipate she’ll rival Zeri, Ashe, or Smolder.

In terms of rune pages, she’ll likely go down the typical Precision route, with Lethal Tempo, Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, and Cutdown completing her primary runes. According to Mobalytics data, for her secondary, many players will likely opt for the Inspiration keystone, going for Magical Footwear for free boots and Biscuit Delivery for extra sustain in the early laning phase.

Overall, Yunara will require smart play and good team support to rally around her in the early game, letting her snowball into a true beast the longer the game continues. In theory, Yunara is well-balanced, but we’ll have to see how she performs once she’s officially available to play.

Going onto LoL esports, since Yunara will be released right after the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025, pro-players will have time to master her in scrims and practice matches. Since all Summer Splits start around August, it’s unlikely that Yunara will be a key feature in these games after still being so new. However, thanks to Fearless Draft shaking things up, she could still make an unexpected appearance in regional leagues as pro-players’ mains and OTPs get used or banned.

With the right team composition, Yunara could become a hidden weapon ahead of the World Championship in October

Conclusion

With her scaling capabilities and hybrid kit, Yunara will be a welcome addition to the otherwise stale ADC champion pool in Patch 25.14. As with any new addition to the champion roster, she’ll likely be a popular pick in both normal draft and ranked games, so anyone wanting to play her will have to lock her in quickly.

To celebrate Yunara’s launch, Riot will also be adding a slew of new content, including a brand new mini-game into the League of Legends client, a side-scrolling 2D brawler titled the Battle of Koeshin featuring Xin Zhou and Yunara, and a Spirit Realm-themed version of the ARAM bridge, called Koeshin’s Crossing.
