TL;DR

  • NetEase Games recently showed off Marvel Rivals’ college student perks programme for active students.
  • College students will be able to use their student emails in Season 3 to access perks like trial skins and MVP animations.
  • These bonuses may be taken out of rotation and replaced with new ones in future Seasons.
  • The program is currently exclusive to students in the UK and the US, with more regions confirmed to be added shortly.

If you’re a college student who’s been sinking dozens of hours into Marvel Rivals, you’re in luck. NetEase Games just revealed a brand-new college student perks initiative that drops 10 trial skins and MVP animations into your hands. All you need to do is have an active college account to take advantage of this offer. It’s a great way to deck out your favourite heroes in new gear without spending money on the game’s best cosmetics.

Read on to learn what Marvel Rivals skins are currently offered free to college students, how to access them, and how trial skins work. By bringing in college student perks, NetEase Games is angling for a bigger slice of the team-based shooter pie with rewards and bonuses players would love to get their hands on.

Once Season 3 begins, Marvel Rivals players can register their university email with their NetEase Games account. Doing so will grant them 10 free trial skins and MVP animations in-game. While new Marvel Rivals Season 3 trailers showed off Phoenix Force and Symbiote-themed skins, we don’t know which will be free for college students.

We expect more details on the specific skins and animations to be revealed at 11 AM UTC on July 11, 2025, as that’s when Season 3 kicks off. This new initiative was announced in Dev Vision Vol. 7, a video from NetEase Games that gave players a better idea of what to expect from the team’s upcoming Season.

Eligibility for free Marvel Rivals skins

Creative director Guangyun Chen revealed that this college student perks program will kick off in the US and the UK, with more regions being added over time. While this doesn’t guarantee access to every student living in those areas, Chen mentioned that NetEase Games’ support team is ready to verify accounts to distribute these free Marvel Rivals skins. Season 3 also brings the ability to mix skins with MVP emotes, making it the perfect time to reward college students who’ve invested hours into mastering the best Marvel Rivals characters.

If you’re not in the US or UK, don’t worry. Plenty of notable colleges and universities across the world hand out education-specific email addresses, and Marvel Rivals’ expanding coverage will support them shortly. Let’s hope these perks include new Marvel Rivals skins fresh from the oven as well as old favourites from previous seasons. This program may not include skins earned by completing older battle passes to honour the time players have put into earning them.

Here’s how players will be able to utilise Marvel Rivals’ perks for college students:

  • Register for NetEase Games’ college student perks program by using the official email ID provided by your college or university. We expect this portal to be available within the Marvel Rivals game client in Season 3 – The Abyss Awakens.
  • Once you’ve registered, expect a verification code at the address you provided. Authenticate your account, and you can access 10 free trial skins and MVP animations.
  • Expect these trial skins to be shuffled in future seasons. This means that these perks may not be permanent across seasons. That also opens up the possibility of getting new skins each season as a college student.
  • If your email ID is not recognised by NetEase Games, contact their support team here.

Conclusion

Students tend to tackle classes and assignments alongside a tight budget and time constraints, making Marvel Rivals’ new initiative all the more alluring. By gaining access to skins and MVP animations normally exclusive to the in-game shop, college students will be able to show off their characters in fresh outfits and poses at the end of matches. This initiative will exist alongside Marvel Rivals’ Twitch Drops program. Marvel Unlimited subscribers can also get their hands on The Unlimited Thing skin.

Marvel Rivals skins are a great way to reward longtime players and invite newcomers into its chaotic battles. All you need to do is have an active student mail and register with NetEase Games once it opens up registration for its college student perks program.
