Chris Greeley, Riot Games’ Director of Esports and Commissioner of the LCS, commented in a release: “We’re excited to facilitate tremendous competition with our Legends of Runeterra Seasonal Tournaments in North America. Based on Wisdom and Giant Slayer’s proven history of accomplishments, we’re confident they’ll help us deliver something truly special to players over the course of multiple tournaments and broadcasts.”

Wisdom will produce Legends of Runeterra broadcasts under its Giant Slayer brand. The open rounds of the first seasonal tournament will be broadcast on December 6, with the playoffs moving to Riot Games’ own Twitch channel on December 13.

Ian Anderson, SVP of Wisdom Gaming, added: “We’re thrilled to continue working with Riot to build the competitive Legends of Runeterra community. Much like Teamfight Tactics, this brilliant CCG is core to the evolution of our internal brand, Giant Slayer, and our on-going partnerships with Riot in both titles will help to catalyse the great esports moments that are yet ahead of us as both fans and players.”

Wisdom Gaming Group oversees tournaments and content for a number of esports titles, with the Giant Slayer brand also applying to Teamfight Tactics and VALORANT. Additionally, Wisdom has brands and channels dedicated to Rocket League and Heroes of the Storm, whilst also owning the team organisation Alpine Esports. The firm announced $3m (£2.24m) in Series A funding in September.

Esports Insider says: It’s unclear whether Riot has Hearthstone-like esports ambitions for Legends of Runeterra, but enlisting on-the-rise partners like Wisdom seems like a good way to get things started for now.
