Gaming brand Razer has announced the Razer Invitational – North America, a regional online esports tournament open to the gaming communities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
The competition is a part of the brand’s Razer Invitational 2021 season and follows in the footsteps of last year’s events in Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The event makes its debut in North America on May 8th.

Each week, throughout May and into early June, athletes from across the continent will have an opportunity to compete in a different title, including Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, and Brawl Stars.
The prize pool involves gaming hardware, presumably provided by Razer, and up to $30,000 (£21,472).
Khang Thai, Senior Global Esports Lead at Razer commented: “Razer Invitational was founded on the simple idea of creating a pure and competitive platform where every athlete has a chance to compete regardless of their in-game rank, their sponsorship status, or their team affiliations.
“It has now grown into a global phenomenon that represents inclusivity within the esports community. After a very successful Season 2020, we continue our vision for esports with an even bigger Season 2021, making competitive tournament play accessible to everyone around the world.”

Last year, the Razer Invitational captivated fans across three regions, with 22 nations and nearly 60,000 people competing during the events, according to the release.
This year’s tournament is broken into three week-long legs, across a variety of console platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Mobile. Players will be able to sign up as teams or individuals for a shot at the prize pool.
The action will be streamed via Razer’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook channels.
Esports Insider says: With the success of Razer’s Invitational 2020, there was no doubt the company were going to bring it back again for another round this year. This year, the event has expanded into North America, which will likely increase the stature of the series, whilst also providing players with more competitive opportunities.
