Prior to joining G2 Esports, Dechelotte was the Head of Partnerships and Business Development EMEA at Riot Games. Moreover, he has held roles at Coca-Cola Company as well as Havas Sports and Entertainment France.
Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez, CEO of G2, commented: “We couldn’t be happier to have Alban join the G2 team. We’re an agile, hungry business and he brings great skills to the equation; we are proud that he has chosen to put on the G2 colours.
“Alban has not only pioneered sector-first partnerships for esports around the world, but has an extensive amount of experience combining huge global FMCG brands with the world of gaming.”
According to the release, Dechelotte is credited for bringing brands such as KitKat and KIA into the esports sector during his time at Riot Games. He also helped expand broadcast distribution for the League of Legends European Championships (LEC).
Alban Dechelotte, General Manager at G2, added: “I am thrilled to join the G2 family to support the expansion of the organisation in new territories and new entertainment activities.
“I have always admired the team and the winning culture that Carlos has inspired for G2 Esports. I am looking forward to exploring what will be next for the G2 army.”
G2 Esports also announced that Peter Mucha, the organisation’s COO, will transition to the role of Observer of the Board. The transition, which is expected to take place in the second half of 2021, will see Mucha ‘support and advise ’G2 on the strategic development of the company’.
Esports Insider says: This is a huge move for G2 Esports and for Dechelotte. Despite securing a range of valuable partnerships, which includes the likes of Ralph Lauren, the esports organisation has continued to bolster its commercial team.
