Italian automotive marque Ferrari has announced the fourth edition of the Ferrari Esports Series.
The sim racing competition will see drivers compete for a chance to win a place on the Ferrari Esports team.
For the first time, drivers from the Asia-Pacific region are eligible to participate in the six-month season alongside North America and Europe.
The season will take place from April until October and will culminate with 12 drivers racing on Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione platforms.
In addition to the racing, the Ferrari Esports Series will host a series of video content showcasing highlights and a documentary series on last season’s winner becoming the latest member of the roster.
Ferrari continues to consolidate its presence within sim racing. Alongside hosting its esports series, the marque competes in the F1 Esports Series with the rest of the Formula One grid.
The sim racing sector continues to grow. French car manufacturer Alpine has doubled down on its esports efforts, unveiling its own esports series featuring a prize pool of $60,000 (~£49,900) worth of Alpine Fan Tokens.
Jonathan Riley, 2022 Ferrari Esports Series champion, spoke on the launch of the 2023 season: “The Ferrari Esports Series is not like any other sim racing competition.
“It’s six intense months of high-speed racing against the world’s best amateur sim racers, all with one common goal in mind. It’s a chance to sit among the best sim drivers and compete for the greatest motorsport brand in the world.”
