Muir joins M80 following a spell as the coach of Sentinels’ VALORANT roster and has previously collaborated with M80 founder Marco Mereu after working with him during his time at XSET.

Muir departed Sentinels in April 2023 after coaching its VALORANT team throughout March. Prior to joining Sentinels, he led XSET’s VALORANT team to a top-eight finish at 2022 VALORANT Champions.

Founded in December 2022 by Mereu, M80 currently fields rosters in VALORANT, Rainbow Six Siege, and Street Fighter. Details of the organisation’s expansion plans were not disclosed.

Since launch, M80 has raised $3m (~£2.43m) in a seed investment round in order to expand its presence in the esports sector in addition to content creation and consumer products. M80 has a total of seven partners on its roster, including FPS aim training platform Aim Lab, gaming furniture manufacturer Secretlab, and ZOWIE.

Meureu, CEO and Co-founder of M80, spoke on Muir’s appointment: “Don has a rich track record building and leading championship calibre esports teams, and his addition to M80 will ensure our continued competitive dominance.

“M80 has quickly cemented itself as a top esports organization, and Don’s ability to spot and support talent will help us thrive in our current titles while also successfully entering new ones.”
