As part of M80’s ownership group, Medvedev aims to leverage his experience in sports to bolster the organisation, such as integrating sports psychology. Moreover, the tennis player will look to provide fans with engagement opportunities alongside M80.

Medvedev is among the top professional tennis players worldwide, having spent 16 weeks as the No. 1 player in 2022. The athlete has won 20 tournaments, including the 2021 US Open. M80 also noted that the tennis player is ranked amongst the top 2.9% of R6 players and has been part of the game’s ambassador programme since August.

In 2021, Medvedev also became a global brand ambassador for gaming peripherals brand HyperX.

M80 is a North American esports entertainment organisation established by XSET co-founder Marco Mereu in December 2022. M80’s rosters compete in VALORANT, CS:GO, R6, and more. The organisation’s commercial partners includes the likes of Aimlabs, Zowie, and Secretlab.

Throughout this year, M80 has shown continuous efforts to strengthen its position as a top esports brand in North America. In May, the organisation raised $3m (~£2.45m) in a seed investment round to expand its footprint across esports, content creation and consumer products.

The company has also recently signed new partners, such as game platform Forge, and personnel, like its Vice President of Esports Don ‘SyykoNT’ Muir.

Daniil Medvedev commented on joining M80: “As an avid gamer and competitor, joining M80 gives me the opportunity to blend my experience. Just as in tennis, success in esports demands mental resilience and dedication.

“Marco and the team have created one of the world’s most exciting esports brands, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the growth of the company and giving fans more ways to engage with M80.”
