Gen.G Foundation, the Korean esports organisation’s education fund, has expanded its scholarships for US students with the launch of the Gen.G Practicum Abroad programme.

The new programme offers students pursuing a career in esports a three-week experience at the Gen.G headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

Throughout Spring and Summer 2025, participants of the programme will have access to custom esports programming, mentorship by esports industry professionals, special lectures and networking opportunities. Local travel and accommodation are also included. Applications will open on November 15th.

In addition, Gen.G Foundation will continue its regular scholarship programme, which is primarily focused on women, people of colour, and low-income U.S. students with an interest in gaming, esports, entrepreneurship, journalism or content creation. Students can still submit their credentials until November 6th to benefit from networking game nights and career lectures, including workshops with Gen.G employees and industry veterans.

The study abroad programme and scholarships are part of the Gen.G Foundation’s $1m (£757,655) pledge to advance education in the esports and gaming industry. Since its establishment in 2020, the foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 40 students.

International esports organisation Gen.G fields rosters in League of Legends, VALORANT, PUBG and more. This year, the company extended several existing partnerships with Idahoan Foods, LG U+ and motor oil brand Mobile 1. Gen.G  also acquired data analytics platform YOUR.GG and announced a new hub in Saudi Arabia.

The esports organisation has been a major driver of esports education, with the Gen.G Global Academy (GGA) being the world’s first fully integrated academic esports programme in Korea. The institution was recently upgraded with a new building near Gen.G’s headquarters in Seoul.

Moreover, GGA partnered with Southeast Asian esports organisation Team Flash and the Ribom Hanbang Hospital in South Korea to elevate its education services.

Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G, commented on the new abroad study programme: “Education is a key pillar to our business, so it’s extremely gratifying that we are so committed to awarding scholarships and expanding our program to bring students to Korea to access our resources at our new Gen.G Global Academy facility.

“Since 2020, we have seen firsthand the impact of the Gen.G Foundation has had on our students by enhancing their opportunities to pursue their professional goals.”
