Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail has revealed that ENVY is actively scouting potential Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) rosters to represent the organisation.
The announcement, made in a recent video, follows Hastr0’s previous confirmation that the organisation is looking at opportunities to field a roster back in April.
In a video uploaded to ENVY’s YouTube channel, Hastr0 said he ‘wants to take care of some unfinished business’ following the re-acquisition of the brand from OpTic Gaming in January 2025.
The ENVY owner teased a potential return to Counter-Strike 2 in April, fuelling speculation surrounding the organisation’s plans to compete in Valve’s first-person shooter title once again.
“We’re already scouting to bring a CS team back to ENVY,” Hastr0 now said in the video. “We don’t want to go in with a roster that doesn’t have a shot. We’re looking for the right opportunity to get ENVY back to Counter-Strike Majors.”
Before merging with OpTic Gaming in 2021, ENVY was no stranger to achieving success in Counter-Strike esports. In 2015, its French roster achieved victory at the Cluj-Napoca Major before the organisation acquired a multi-national roster, with the team on a roll until the organisation left the Counter-Strike scene in 2021.
When Is ENVY Returning To Counter-Strike 2?
Hastr0 didn’t reveal a timeframe regarding the organisation’s return to Counter-Strike 2 esports, but intends on fielding a roster that is capable of qualifying for the biggest tournaments.
“In the short time we were in the CS scene, we managed to create some of the most exciting moments in Counter-Strike history,” added Rufail.
“We want to get back to that and support some of the best players in the world, like we did with the French roster. We just want to make more memories in the game.”
Throughout 2025, ENVY has already expanded into several esports titles, including Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends and even a return to Halo. An expansion into Counter-Strike 2 would continue ENVY’s upward trajectory since returning to esports in February.
