Professional Apex Legends player Timothy ‘iiTzTimmy’ An has announced he will retire from esports.
The player made the announcement ahead of the ALGS Midseason Playoffs, which will be the NRG player’s final time competing in the battle royale title.
On July 9th, 2025, iiTzTimmy shared insight into his decision to call time on his competitive career. Alongside competing under the NRG banner, he’s one of Apex Legends’ biggest content creators, with 1.8m YouTube subscribers and 2.9m Twitch followers.
Widely considered as one of the most popular Apex Legends players, iiTzTimmy has competed for several North American organisations, including 100 Thieves and Moist Esports.
“I sometimes just can’t give my 100%. I’m giving realistically 90%. I think that’s just very unfair for my org, my teammates, and my community,” said Timmy in his retirement announcement.
“You guys deserve me putting all of my energy and every single into comp and to be the best version of myself to win, and I feel I can’t do that. I’ve come to the decision to retire from competitive Apex Legends.”
Timmy has achieved a wealth of success throughout his competitive career. In 2023, he led Dojo to a surprise fourth-place finish at the ALGS Championship, along with top-ten placements at both Year 4 playoffs.
What Next For NRG?
NRG has the opportunity to conclude Timmy’s career at the top with a strong performance at the ALGS Midseason Playoffs, taking place as part of the Esports World Cup.
40 teams from across the world will descend on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a chance to win a share of $2m (~£1.4m) in prize money and championship points that determine which teams qualify for the season-ending ALGS championship.
Timmy’s retirement leaves NRG looking for one player after the Esports World Cup, potentially acting as the catalyst for a North American roster shuffle.
