OG Esports has officially announced that it will be holding the OG MR Combine event, an open-door public try-out where Marvel Rivals players can showcase their skills for a chance to join the organisation’s roster.
With Marvel Rivals Ignite Stage 1 entering its Mid-Season finals, OG Esports is looking to shape its Marvel Rivals roster ahead of Ignite Stage 2, Season 3: The Abyss Awakens and more.
In a blog post, OG Esports wrote: “Whether you’re a veteran of ranked play or a rising star hungry for the spotlight, the OG MR Combine welcomes you. This isn’t a closed-door recruitment; it’s an open-door process where skill, grit and potential take centre stage.
“No matter your background, if you believe you have what it takes, we want to see you.”
How to Try Out For OG Esports’ Marvel Rivals Team
OG MR Combine has three separate stages.
First is the application phase, where players can head onto OG’s Google form to share vital information about themselves, including desired role, top five heroes and ability to travel for tournaments.
Next is the first phase, where selected applicants will participate in a multi-stage assessment. Players will be challenged through various in-house scrims and receive feedback on their performance.
Finally, the last phase will see ‘exceptional candidates’ gain access to exclusive feedback and mentorship from OG Esports’ performance managers. Final candidates will then be offered a spot on OG Seed and will be flown to Lisbon, Portugal to play in a bootcamp at the Sunflower Gaming House.
Big Changes Coming to OG Seed in Marvel Rivals?
The open tryouts are a very interesting move by OG Esports, as OG Seed currently has an active roster and substitutes, with eight players currently listed as of the writing of this article. However, the team did not achieve great results in the Marvel Rivals Ignite Stage 1 EMEA tournament, which was won by Brr Brr Patapim. The team ultimately placed 12th out of 16 teams after getting knocked to the bottom half of the Group Stage.
In the blog post, OG Esports wrote: “In a rapidly evolving competitive landscape, resting on reputation isn’t enough. The OG MR Combine pushes both organisations and players to raise the bar – spotlighting new approaches, unexpected talent, and diverse perspectives that drive innovation.
“By opening our doors, we’re not just strengthening our roster; we’re cultivating a vibrant, inclusive community where every player has a clear pathway to greatness.”
With the OG MR Combine, the question remains whether or not this is looking to establish a new team, replace active players in OG Seed, or overhaul the roster entirely.
OG Esports originally disbanded its Marvel Rivals roster on April 6th following the Season 1 Championships, and OG Seed was then established a month later on June 2nd. Only time will tell how OG Seed’s roster will develop for future Marvel Rivals events.
