VK Gaming has won the ALGS Midseason Playoffs, which took place as part of the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Chinese esports organisation emerged victorious following a seven-way battle for the win during Apex Legends‘ second major esports event of the 2025 season.
Coming off the back of a 17th-place finish at the ALGS Open earlier in the year, VK Gaming headed into the Midseason Playoffs under the radar. In particular, the focus from the community was on the likes of Team Falcons and NRG.
However, VK Gaming came out swinging, winning the first game before netting two top-four finishes to take the team over the 50-point threshold to qualify for Match Point. After scoring a second-place finish in game eight, the team from the APAC South Pro League took victory in game nine, defeating Wolves Esports in a deciding one-versus-one duel to secure the title.
As a result of claiming victory at the Midseason Playoffs, VK Gaming secured $600,000 (~£444,963) in prize money and 3,000 Championship Points. As a result, VK Gaming has secured a total of 5820 points for the season-ending ALGS Championship in 2026. This places the organisation third in the rankings so far.
The Midseason Playoffs recorded solid viewing figures, peaking at 219,800 according to Esports Charts. The event has become the third most-watched Apex Legends event this year, while the ALGS 2024 Championship holds the top spot with 540,364 peak viewers.
What Next For Apex Legends Esports?
With the Midseason Playoffs concluded, the focus of the Apex Legends esports scene turns to the start of Split 2, the final split of the 2025/26 season.
Teams from across Europe, the Americas, APAC North and APAC South will compete in Pro League matches to earn enough points to be one of 40 teams competing at the ALGS Championship.
The winners of Split 2 will earn a place in the tournament, alongside those with enough championship points and teams that make it through the last-chance qualifier.
