FC Porto has renewed its existing partnership with Portuguese esports organisation LUNA Esports for another two seasons.

As a result of the renewal, FC Porto Luna eSports will compete in men’s and women’s EA Sports FC tournaments operated by the Portuguese Football Federation and Liga Portugal.

The deal also includes the launch of the FC Porto Luna eSports jersey, which features a new badge on the left sleeve as a tribute to the esports organisation’s founder, Diogo Jota. The former Liverpool FC player passed away in July 2025 at the age of 28 after being involved in a car accident.

The new jersey featuring the tribute is available to purchase on the club’s online store.

Jota founded LUNA eSports in November 2020 and quickly solidified its position in Europe’s premier EA Sports FC ecosystem. In June, the team finished second in the FPF Taça Masters 2025 event.

“For us and also for FC Porto, this continuity is of great importance,” said Armando Vale, General Manager of LUNA eSports. “It is also important for the esports scene at the national level. The objectives are always to enter to win. As long as that’s the case, we will be here to try to deliver as many trophies as possible.”

Portugal And Esports

In recent years, Portugal has continued to expand its presence within the esports industry through hosting a range of events and initiatives.

FC Porto is among several football clubs from the country to embark on esports projects to engage with its younger fans. In 2020, Benfica entered the industry and has since become a household name in EA Sports FC esports, winning FPF Taça Masters 2025.

In June, the Portuguese Football Federation joined forces with free-to-play football title UFL to demonstrate its ability for players and event organisers to host online and offline tournaments.

Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
