Riot Games has secured a multi-year strategic partnership with IT and software development company Globant.
As Riot Games’ new digital transformation partner, Globant will support the developer with AI initiatives to improve esports viewing experiences and mobile integrations.
Founded in 2023, Globant provides digital and AI-powered innovations to media, entertainment and gaming companies across 35 countries. Its global partners include technology corporation NVIDIA, as well as sports brands FIFA and Formula 1.
The deal with game developer Riot Games represents Globant’s largest gaming agreement to date. The IT company aim to help elevate Riot’s most popular esports franchises, League of Legends and VALORANT, to “deliver richer, more tailored experiences for millions of players and fans globally.”
“Globant shares our commitment to deliver the most resonate and engaging experiences for players and fans around the world,” shared David Mulhall, Global Head of Esports Partnerships and Business Development, Riot Games, in a press release.
“Their deep expertise in technology will help us accelerate areas of the business so Rioters can focus on pushing creative boundaries of what’s possible in esports and live events.”
In addition to League of Legends and VALORANT, Riot Games is known for its many projects set in the LoL universe. These include auto battler Teamfight Tactics and animated series Arcane.
Most recently, the developer globally launched trading card game Riftbound, less than a month after its first fighting game 2XKO entered early access.
The Rise of AI in Esports
Similar to many other creative and technology-based industries, esports stakeholders have shown an increased interest in AI and blockchain technology throughout recent years.
Several esports organisations, such as NRG, Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses, have launched their AI-powered chatbots. Meanwhile, Overwatch 2 also witnessed the brief arrival of the Sign Esports Club earlier this year, backed by blockchain company Sign.
