One of the top fighting game pros in the world, Dominique ‘SonicFox’ McLean, has signed with FlyQuest, announced on December 12th.

“I look forward to flying high with FlyQuest,” SonicFox expressed on X (Formerly Twitter).

In its announcement video on X, FlyQuest proudly exclaimed that SonicFox has won Evo eight times across five different games. In the video, SonicFox reiterates this accomplishment in a fun skit, stating: “I’m the best.”

Despite being one of the GOATs of the FGC, FlyQuest’s video had fellow Evo champion Justin Wong jokingly demanding ‘more’ from SonicFox. He asked: “Are you a different animal, but the same furry?”

“What does that even mean?” SonicFox responded.

Despite the confusing speech, SonicFox eventually feels motivated to sign with FlyQuest to accomplish ‘more.’ The orgnaisation later emphasised: “We don’t plan on dropping them after just one Evo win.”

While the announcement was more hype than in-depth information, the FGC is already speculating what ‘more’ could mean. Is SonicFox going to take on more competitive titles? This could definitely be possible, as more fighting games enter the scene in 2025 and beyond.

Who is SonicFox?

SonicFox is one of the best fighting game pros in history. Over the span of 10-plus years, SonicFox has won Evo tournaments for Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat 1, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Skullgirls 2nd Encore.

Recently, SonicFox has been testing out 2XKO as its esports scene grows. At DreamHack Atlanta earlier this year, they were defeated by William ‘Leffen’ Hjelte in the Grand Finals for Riot’s fighter. This could very likely be one of the titles that SonicFox continues to grind for FlyQuest.

SonicFox has continued to be an unapologetic figure in the fighting game scene that’s never afraid to express themselves. It will be exciting to see them take on more titles and more tournaments with FlyQuest’s support.
