G2 Esports has won the LEC Versus Final after a thrilling five-game series against Karmine Corp in front of a live audience in Barcelona,
As a result of securing another domestic title, G2 Esports has also earned a place at First Stand 2026 in Brazil. After an uneven regular season, G2 found its rhythm in the LEC Versus playoffs and carried that form onto the final stage, winning its 20th LEC title.
Over the weekend, global League of Legends esports fans were treated to five major region title matches across two days, with the LEC Versus Final in Barcelona being EMEA’s spotlight event.
G2 entered the finals following a flawless playoff run. With Karmine Corp also having its own momentum, a full five-game series ensued, testing both sides and keeping the audience engaged until the final minutes of the last game.
G2 mid laner Rasmus ‘Caps‘ Borregaard Winther once again proved decisive and earned the Finals MVP award, making it his seventh in the league. Across the series, he offered stability in tense moments and stepped forward when the game demanded it. In the last game, his Anivia controlled space in key fights and helped G2 hold its ground in the late game.
How G2 Won Beat Karmine Corp
The first game started with strong early pressure from Karmine Corp while G2 played more patiently, absorbing that pressure and waiting for clearer teamfight setups. The turning point came when Karmine Corp traded its top lane for a bot tier-two tower and underestimated G2’s Baron push, leading it to break into Karmine Corp base, secure several kills, and close the first game of the series.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Karmine Corp building an early lead while G2 focused on scaling and map control. Better setups around objectives and a clear understanding of champion power spikes allowed G2 to slowly take over. Once again, with Baron secured for G2, Karmine Corp gave up ground without trading elsewhere on the map. G2 then pushed the advantage to move ahead 2-0 in the series.
At this point, it seemed G2 would conquer the Spain-hosted Final 3-0 once again. The broadcast described the French challengers as dead and buried after that second loss — and G2 had never been reverse-swept in a Final. But Karmine Corp was not done yet.
Karmine Corp punished several individual mistakes from G2 in game three and maintained control from mid-game, swiftly scoring its first point.
In game four, G2 looked set to close the series as it managed objectives and held a steady lead for most of the match. However, a decisive engage from Kim ‘Canna’ Chang-dong turned the game upside down in a single fight, pushing the Final to Silver Scrapes.
For the joy of fans watching, the last game lasted 46 minutes. G2 drafted strong crowd control and a reliable late-game damage comp, building a small gold lead while stacking dragons and later securing Baron. The fights remained close, yet G2 kept control of key areas on the map. In the final moments, Sergen ‘BrokenBlade‘ Çelik and Rudy ‘SkewMond‘ Semaan executed a well-timed backdoor to end the game and secure the championship.
With this victory, G2 Esports moves on to First Stand 2026 in Brazil, where it will represent EMEA on the international stage once again.
Meanwhile, Karmine Corp, which showed clear growth during the competition, now turns its focus to the upcoming Spring split, aiming for another chance to challenge G2 in the Finals.
