Indian esports tournament organiser Skyesports partnered with esports, web3, and talent management company Ampverse to expand its operations into Southeast Asia (SEA).

According to the announcement, Skyesports will invest around $1m (~£888,000) into prize pools across various tournaments in the SEA region throughout 2022 and 2023. The company will also open a new office in Bangkok as a part of the collaboration.

Skyesports is primarily known for organising grassroots tournaments in India and surrounding countries. These include the Skyesports Mobile Open, as well as other tournaments in VALORANT, Dota 2, Free Fire and Real Cricket. Skyesports recently partnered with Indian streaming platform Rooter to provide better access to its content and is also a partner of AMD and Riot Games.

The collaboration sees Skyesports now expand its operations into Southeast Asia, with the help of a known local brand. Alongside its talent management division, Ampverse operates teams such as Bacon Time and MiTH, as well as being behind a large number of content creators. The company is involved in Web3 projects and recently signed a major partnership with SPORTFIVE. Ampverse also expanded into India last year.

Skyesports plans to create new tournaments for the SEA region. The company shared in a release that it plans on creating ‘original IPs with a localised flavour’ featuring different esports titles. The first tournament organised by Ampverse and Skyesports will be the Skyesports SEA Championship powered by Ampverse.

“We are entering the SEA market with a long-term commitment and our new office in Bangkok is indicative of that. I am thrilled to begin this journey with Ampverse, which is one of the leaders in the gaming and esports space in the region.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
