Multinational esports organisation Galaxy Racer has announced it will host a women-only Apex Legends tournament in collaboration with game developer and publisher Electronic Arts (EA).

The three-part event will form part of the HER Galaxy Tournament Series, an initiative aiming to provide opportunities for gamers who identify as women to compete in esports across a range of titles.

The Apex Legends Open will feature a $100,000 (~£79,938) prize pool, the largest ever prize pot for a women’s Apex Legends event. The tournament is open to all women-identifying competitors in North America and will take place from April 28th until June 25th.

Galaxy Racer’s HER Galaxy Tournament Series consists of seven events taking place throughout 2023. Alongside Apex Legends, the series will also feature competitions in Rocket League featuring an additional $150,000 (~£119,902) in prize money.

EA and Galaxy Racer have previously collaborated to support inclusivity within the esports industry. According to a release, the publisher donated $40,000 (~£31,954) to support HER Galaxy’s Charity Creator Cup, which took place in March.

Founded in 2022, the HER Galaxy initiative focuses on creating grassroots opportunities for women in North America. Alongside organising tournaments, it provides education and networking opportunities for gamers interested in the wider industry.

John Nelson, Senior Director and Commissioner of Apex Legends Esports, spoke on the collaboration: “Apex Legends was built with diversity and representation in mind, and we’re committed to fostering that same philosophy through competitive gaming.

“We’re proud to support Galaxy Racer as we work together to create opportunities that elevate women in our global Apex Legends community.”

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
