Portuguese professional footballer Diogo Jota has invested in multinational esports organisation Galaxy Racer.

As a result, Jota’s own esports organisation, Diogo Jota Esports, will be rebranded to Luna Galaxy and fall under the Galaxy Racer umbrella.

The Liverpool footballer becomes a shareholder of Galaxy Racer and will play a role in deciding the organisation’s esports strategy, which has recently expanded into hosting a range of tournaments across multiple titles.

According to a release, Luna Galaxy will compete in Dota 2, Rocket League and FIFA. The organisation recently concluded its final FIFA competitive season at the Gamers8 event in Saudi Arabia. Diogo Jota Esports participated in the FIFAe Finals with Daniel ‘DFernandes’ Fernandes finishing in the top 16.

Interestingly Galaxy Racer is currently in the process of a significant merger with Riva Technology and Entertainment (RTE) as the digital media entertainment company intends to purchase the organisation.

Completion of the deal will see Galaxy Racer be renamed to Celestial, with the goal to accelerate expansion and establish a media and sports conglomerate focused on the MENA region and India.

Jota, Galaxy Racer’s new shareholder, spoke on the news: “I am delighted to join forces with Galaxy Racer and embark on this exciting venture.

“Esports has the potential to captivate millions worldwide, just like football, and I’ve been able to experience both first-hand. Through this partnership, I hope to bring Luna Galaxy to a whole new audience of gamers and sports fans alike.”

As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
