South Korean game studio Super Storm has partnered with multinational esports organisation Gen.G to launch its game Storm Striker in North America.

Gen.G will support the growth of Storm Striker’s community through a series of activations leveraging its collegiate network.

The announcement comes after Gen.G’s and Super Storm’s partnership launch in the APAC region earlier this month. In North America, the partnership will begin with a series of streams and content featuring Becca ‘Aspen’ Rukavina, a streamer and former Overwatch professional player.

According to a release, Gen.G will help grow the game’s English-speaking Discord community, integrate its College Gaming club programme and host contests and events. This includes a ‘Try-Me’ Event, an Intercollegiate Esports Tournament, and a Playtime Reward Event.

Super Storm also leveraged Gen.G’s collegiate network to collect feedback throughout Storm Striker’s development. Members of Gen.G’s Global Academy in South Korea and Gen.G-affiliated Collegiate Gaming clubs in the U.S. participated in focus groups and a closed tournament.

Storm Striker is a 5v5 game combining FPS, action, and MOBA elements. The game launched in early access on November 16th.

Founded in 2017, Gen.G is a multinational esports organisation that is largely known for its competitive success in South Korea. The organisation competes in several titles, such as Overwatch, League of Legends and VALORANT.

The company has also developed a significant stake in the global esports education sector. Its Gen.G Foundation provides scholarships to “talented young gamers who can lead the industry’s next generation” in collaboration with the University of Kentucky.

Moreover, Gen.G has recently secured several esports education partnerships. The company is set to organise an ‘Esports Winter Camp’ in collaboration with the University of Warwick Esports Centre. Collegiate gaming awards ceremony The Scholars also partnered with Gen.G to support new talents in the collegiate esports segment.

Youngkook Kim, Lead Producer of Super Storm Studios, commented on the partnership with Gen.G: “We developed Storm Striker with great hopes of creating the next generation of esports from Korea, the birthplace of esports.

We are excited to kick off our partnership with Gen.G; their reputation and expertise will give Storm Striker the insight and marketing expertise to take the global esports world by storm.”
