Marc Merril, Riot Games’ Co-founder and former co-CEO, has been named Chief Product Officer of the company.

In this newly created role, Merril will oversee the ecosystems of all Riot Games products in addition to helping ‘solidify the future paths’ for the company’s games.

As Riot Games’ Chief Product Officer, Marc Meril will report to CEO Dylan Jadeja and will play a role in creating a broader product strategy to bolster its esports, gameplay and entertainment offerings.

According to a release, the creation of the Chief Product Officer role for Merril will ‘fortify Riot’s product strategy for the future’ following expansions into new game genres and the creation of the Arcane animated series. The new role will also look at helping deliver greater experiences for players and spectators attending events.

Since co-founding Riot Games in 2006, Merril has held a number of leadership roles in the company. He was the developer and publisher’s first President and its first Executive Producer of League of Legends before becoming co-CEO in 2013. Prior to his tenure as its Chief Product Officer, Merril was Riot’s President of its gaming vertical.

Elsewhere, Riot Games continues to cement its position as one of the largest publishers and developers in the world. In November 2023, it expanded its partnership with game data platform GRID in a deal where the platform will become the worldwide esports data partner for the VALORANT Champions Tour and League of Legends esports.

Merril, newly appointed Chief Product Officer at Riot Games, spoke on the role: “I’m excited by the opportunity to help Riot deliver really special experiences to players.

“In a world full of amazing entertainment options, players want games that are truly great, and that’s what we aspire to create.”

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
