North American esports organisation NRG, in collaboration with electronics manufacturer Samsung, has officially announced its entry into PUBG: Mobile.
The North American team, known as NRG Galaxy, will work with Samsung to create a range of content while it competes in the PUBG Mobile esports ecosystem.
NRG’s partnership with Samsung was first announced in March 2024, with its intention to enter PUBG Mobile already outlined. The roster will be equipped with Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to use in competitions and during practice sessions.
This is the first time that NRG has competed in mobile esports since 2019. The expansion into PUBG: Mobile takes the organisation’s number of titles to five. Alongside the battle royale, it also competes in VALORANT, Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and Rocket League.
Samsung is no stranger to the world of esports. In recent years, the manufacturer partnered with the likes of Nordic esports organisation GODSENT and the TELUS Esports Series, a Canadian esports circuit.
In addition to supporting its mobile esports efforts, Samsung has also worked with NRG’s Full Squad Gaming on a gaming tour visiting colleges across North America.
Jaime Cohenca, General Manager of NRG, spoke on the deal: “This is more than just a return to mobile gaming for NRG; it’s a leap into the future of esports.
“And with Samsung by our side, it is clear we are not just participants- but are pioneers, leading the way in technology and high-performance gameplay.”
The inaugural NRG Galaxy roster will consist of David ‘Spec’ Guzman, Jonathan ‘J7’ Galaviz and Cristian ‘Fate’ Figueroa.
